The Department of Children, Seniors, and Social Development is “quite pleased” with work conducted over the last year to fix up Newfoundland and Labrador Housing units.
Paul Pike says they have repaired over 300 units in the last fiscal year, and repairs are either underway or completed on over 80 per cent of the 143 identified as needing repairs earlier in 2023.

Pike notes that it is important to remember that the number of units needing repairs is constantly fluctuating.
He says repairs, which can be minor or more extensive, are always completed when a unit becomes vacant, and that is part of the standard process before new tenants move in.
