The leader of the NDP is accusing government of being “afraid” to put the proper money into education to address issues such as class composition and size.
The province and Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association recently announced a think tank, to be held in the new year, to work on recruitment and retention issues.

Jim Dinn, who is a former teacher and NLTA president, says a think tank is all well and good, but it shouldn’t just come up with ideas to “pick around the edges” without getting down to the human resource challenges.
He believes the issues have been “committeed to death,” recommendations have been made and government needs to act on them.
