NL Health Services says while some progress is being made, recruitment and retention of health care professionals remains a challenge in some areas of the province.

The health authority was responding to questions from VOCM News about continued disruptions in health services in many parts of the province including Bell Island, Bonavista, Baie Verte and New-Wes-Valley in recent days.

In some cases virtual ER services have been employed to fill the gap.

NL Health Services says extensive recruitment efforts continue to stabilize the workforce in order to maintain ER services for people throughout the province.
