Memorial University’s Faculty Association is calling for an emergency meeting with President Neil Bose following a security breach at MUN’s Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook.
Classes on campus returned to normal on Monday following the IT attack first reported on December 29th.
MUNFA says their members do not have the materials needed to conduct their work after staff were ordered to hand in their university-issued devices following the cyberattack.
President Josh Lepawsky says it’s unacceptable to ask members to continue their work without access to the proper resources.
They’ve requested a meeting with the university to discuss the full impact of the breach, including what information may have been compromised and when staff can expect to have their devices returned.
In a statement, Memorial University says they’re unable to answer many of those questions as the investigation is ongoing. Vice-President of Grenfell Campus, Dr. Ian Sutherland, has been providing daily updates to staff and students, with several updates issued this week alone.
The university has set up WiFi hotspots on campus, and staff have regained access to their MUN email accounts.
The MUNFA Executive has requested an emergency meeting with @MemorialU President Neil Bose regarding the IT Security Breach @GrenfellFaculty
Members still do not have access to necessary working materials yet are expected to continue working
This is unacceptable
