The Public Utilities Board will convene a pre-hearing conference on Newfoundland Power’s application for a general rate increase.
The utility is seeking two increases: 1.5 per cent to take effect July 1 of this year and another 5.5 per cent in July of 2025.
All documentation related to the application is available on the PUB’s website, while a pre-hearing conference is set for 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 1 in the Prince Charles Building on Torbay Road in St. John’s.
The pre-hearing conference will identify intervenors, and set the schedule and procedures.
Consumer Advocate Dennis Browne will oppose the rate increase application. He says Newfoundland Power is doing it to “earn more for their shareholders.”
