Government is giving $100,000 to an organization to keep up the snowmobile route in northern Labrador.
The Department of Labrador Affairs is partnering with SmartICE to monitor and maintain the winter snowmobile route between Nain and Natuashish.
SmartICE is known for its work in developing climate change adaptation tools and services that use Indigenous knowledge of ice conditions.
Through the partnership, technology will monitor the ice along the trail to give communities and government real-time data into sea-ice thickness and conditions.
