The post-game handshake is back.

Hockey NL is reversing its decision to change the timing of post-game handshakes in minor hockey.

In December, Hockey NL moved the handshake to before the opening whistle, over concerns stemming from altercations involving players and coaches.

The move was met with great pushback, causing the organization to say the decision was under review for the remainder of the season.

Hockey NL says based on information gathered to date and conversations with members and others, Minor Councill will allow the return of the post-game handshake. They are, however, allowing associations, leagues, tournament hosts and officials the discretion to prohibit the post-game handshake when required.
