It was a night of celebration for the Newfoundland and Labrador film industry.
PictureNL held its first monthly movie screening at The Rooms last night, in celebration of the Year of the Arts.
Throughout the entire year, 11 feature films made in Newfoundland and Labrador will dance on the silver screen to celebrate the industry, along with one night of short films.
The 2001 film “Rare Birds” was screened last night, with star Andy Jones and writer Edward Riche holding a talkback following the event.
Jennifer Hawley, Industry Development Manager, says the screenings acknowledge the history of the industry.
She says they want to highlight and celebrate the talent of films that were written, shot, acted, produced or crewed in Newfoundland and Labrador.
