Musicians and industry professionals from this province earned 52 nominations for this year’s East Coast Music Awards.

Singer-songwriter Tim Baker leads the local pack with 6 nominations in various categories, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year.

We Stand on Guard Again, a benefit concert held in support of those impacted by Hurricane Fiona back in 2022, is nominated for Event of the Year.

MusicNL CEO Rhonda Tulk-Lane says while the province is not as large when it comes to population, the music scene is proving to be strong.

“We punch above our weight,” says Tulk-Lane. “Even when we look at our membership and the growth we have, we have the largest music industry association in Atlantic Canada and second largest in Canada—just behind B.C.”

The awards ceremony takes place in Charlottetown, P.E.I. in May.
