The local chapter of the Canadian Federation of Students is not happy with Ottawa’s decision to cap the number of international students entering Canada.
Ottawa imposed the two-year cap on international student visas earlier this week.
The number of visas issued will vary from province to province. Government hopes it will help alleviate a so-called “population trap” and housing crisis.
NL Federation of Students calls the move discriminatory and suggests government find ways to reduce the cost of living and create a more equitable system.
They’re calling on Minister Miller to focus on the bigger issues without taking it out on international students.
