The Globe and Mail is reporting that five unnamed members of the Canadian 2018 world junior hockey team have been told to surrender to police in London, Ontario to face charges of sexual assault.
Five players from the former world junior team have been granted a leave of absence from their current teams.
They include NHL players Michael McLeod and Cal Foote of the New Jersey Devils, Dillon Dube of the Calgary Flames, Carter Hart of the Philadelphia Flyers and Alex Formenton, a former NHL player who now plays in Switzerland.
The charges are related to allegations of sexual assault at an event dating in June of 2018.
Former Hockey Canada Chief Executive Scott Smith resigned after news of the scandal broke, and led to a complete overhaul on its board of directors.
