The provincial government has announced the creation of Education Accord NL.
Co-chaired by Dr. Anne burke and Dr. Karen Goodnough, the initiative will develop what government calls a targeted approach to transforming and modernizing the education system.
It will focus on four areas: early learning and childhood development, education engagement and transformation, health and wellbeing in education, and post-secondary education and learning across the lifespan.
The end result, according to government, will be a 10 year plan with short, medium, and long-term goals for the system.
The document will be developed in consultation with stakeholders and will incorporate research from the Health Accord.
The accord will be delivered to government less than a year from now on New Year’s Eve.
Education Minister Krista Lynn Howell, along with Burke and Goodnough, will meet with media to discuss to accord at 1 p.m.
