The provincial government is establishing a new award dedicated to arts, heritage, recreation and sport.
The new Premier’s Medal will be the highest honour in Newfoundland and Labrador in these fields.
Premier Andrew Furey will present the medals to two recipients from each discipline annually.
To mark the Year of the Arts and 75 years since Confederation, ten recipients from the arts and ten recipients from the heritage sector will be awarded the medal.
Sports and recreation awards will be handed out in 2025 during the Canada Summer Games in St. John’s.
