The Official Opposition is calling on the province to make full use of the Stephenville Airport for its Heart Force One program.
PC leader Tony Wakeham says “it only makes sense” for the program to use the Stephenville Airport because of its proximity to communities along the southwest coast.
Wakeham says doing so would reduce travel time and costs for patients needing scheduled care under the program, as opposed to what is currently happening.
He says patients are being transferred by road ambulance to Deer Lake, an hour and a half away, which he says makes no sense.
