The official opposition says they are pleased with government’s new Newfoundland and Labrador First procurement strategy, but it can be taken further.
The strategy was announced by Minister John Abbott earlier this week.
PC MHA Lloyd Parrott says the implementation of such a strategy was part of the Tories’ election platforms in 2019 and 2021, but they believe it should be taken a “giant” step further.
Parrott says the policy should be extended to include trades workers, including apprentices, to help maximize opportunities for them to get jobs and certification.
