The Executive Director of Choices for Youth is touting the benefits of their new Social Enterprise and Innovation Hub being developed in downtown St. John’s.
The federal and provincial governments, as well as the City of St. John’s, are putting up $4.3 million in joint funding to see the old building at 340 LeMarchant Road be transformed into a home for four social enterprises, as well as SmartICE Sea Ice Monitoring and Information.
Sheldon Pollett says 100 young people will be supported in the space every year, giving them training and employment opportunities.
Pollett says that is an important part of the continuum of support they give to young people, which in turn helps them maintain other necessities such as housing.
