A Supreme Court judge is expected to announce his decision today whether to allow a late bid for the financially troubled shipyard in Harbour Grace.
Harbour Grace Ocean Enterprises has been going through the insolvency process after filing for creditor protection in early November.
That resulted in Blaine Sullivan being chosen as the preferred bidder and buyer for the facility. Sullivan is the president and co-chairman of Ocean Choice International.
But he’s pursuing the Harbour Grace shipyard through his separate company, Green Skiff Investments.
The court was expected to approve the transaction on Friday, until a late bid was submitted by the current majority owner of that shipyard, Kevin English.
That threw a wrench into the process, with the court monitor and other creditors opposing the late bid, which was received after the January 29 deadline.
Sullivan, meanwhile, told VOCM he remains confident his offer will be accepted by the court, adding he’s anxious to get the Harbour Grace shipyard back on solid financial ground.
