Porter Airlines has announced some significant new routes starting in Newfoundland beginning in June.
Daily roundtrip flights between St. John’s and Ottawa are set to begin on June 6.
Through Ottawa, Porter says people can make connecting flights to various destinations including Edmonton, Vancouver, Orlando, Boston, and New York.
And the airline will begin servicing Deer Lake on June 4 with daily roundtrip service to Halifax.
Deer Lake Regional Airport CEO Tammy Priddle says passenger volumes last year were just seven per cent below 2019 levels, and increasing capacity coming in and out of the airport is fundamental to the airport’s pandemic recovery and growth in the local economy.
Porter says both of the new routes are scheduled to run through October 26. Both will be evaluated to determine if winter service is possible.
