Princess Kate, whose absence from the public sphere has generated great social media speculation, has announced that she’s been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy.
The Princess of Wales broke months of silence after undergoing abdominal surgery in January.
Speculation on social media has been at a fever pitch in recent weeks, and an attempt to quell rumours with the release of an image of Kate and her children last week backfired when edits to the photograph caused media outlets to drop the image.
In a video address released publicly, Kate says while her surgery was successful, “tests after the operation found cancer had been present” although the type of cancer has not been disclosed.

The Princess is now undergoing chemotherapy.
King Charles is also being treated for cancer following surgery for an enlarged prostate earlier this year.
