The MHA for Lake Melville has lost his wife to cancer.
Perry Trimper had been very open about the health struggles faced by his wife Caroline Hong, and in January announced that he was stepping back from political duties to be with, and care for her.
Fifty-six-year-old Hong, an environmental consultant with Jacques Whitford, conducted a number of environmental, health and safety investigations throughout Labrador.
Hong was also a dedicated volunteer in the community, for which she was recognized with a Paul Harris Fellowship for her two terms as the president of the Rotary Club of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. She was also in the process of being named as an Honourary Colonel of 5 Wing Goose Bay when she had to withdraw because of her cancer diagnosis.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at the United Church in Happy Valley-Goose Bay this Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of her life at the Northern Lights Chapel at 5 Wing Goose Bay on Thursday at 2:00 p.m.
