The Vera Perlin Society is celebrating their 70th anniversary this year with a special lottery to mark the occasion.
The Vera Perlin Society in St. John’s has been serving people with developmental disabilities since 1954.
The Spring Daze Lottery come with a prize value of $41,250 with gifts from some 15 local companies.
Mary Ann Oakley is CFO of the Vera Perlin Society and says 70 years is a significant time in the community and the work they do is invaluable.
She says the money raised will go towards delivering and supporting the programs and services of the Vera Perlin Society.
Oakley says they must raise 25 per cent of their $3.2 million budget, and the majority of that comes from the Vera Perlin Society Foundation and fundraisers like the Spring Daze Draw.
The draw date is on May 17 but the deadline to buy tickets is Sunday, May 5. However, they hope to be sold out by then.
It’s $20 per ticket and there are only ten-thousand printed. It is an online fundraiser and tickets can be purchased at www.veraperlinsociety.ca.
All tickets are non-refundable, and you must be 19 years of age to purchase.
