The Torbay Volunteer Fire Department says seven people have been displaced, and a family pet has died, following a fire on Indian Meal Line this morning.
Emergency crews first arrived on the scene just after 7 :30 a.m.
They say a family of five living upstairs, and two people living in the basement apartment made it out alive. However, a family pet did not make it out.
The structure was completely gutted upstairs.
The scene has now been turned over to the RNC.
