St. Michael’s Printshop, the province’s only publicly accessible printshop, is celebrating five decades of fostering artistic expression and community engagement.
The operation was founded in 1974 in the small rural community of St. Michael’s, before moving to its current location on Harbour Drive in downtown St. John’s in 1986.

The printshop serves as a hub for local, Canadian and international artists through their visiting artist program, numerous workshops, and scholarships.
To celebrate 50 years, St. Michael’s is holding a number of events and exhibitions this year to showcase prints from their extensive archive.

The exhibitions and events will showcase prints from an archive of over 3,000 prints, dating from its inception in 1974 to present day, that celebrate the rich history of printmaking in the province.
The year kicks off today at the Rotary Arts Centre in Corner Brook with “Gathering at the Water’s Edge,” an exhibition of works from the past five decades of visiting artists.
