The Avalon Peninsula will see a significant amount of rain today with a rainfall warning in effect for the Southern Shore.
Environment Canada says the southern Avalon will see 30 to 60 mm of rain by the end of the day. They say locally higher amounts are possible.
Environment Canada says similar storms in the past have caused dangerous driving conditions due to water pooling on roads. This amount of rain can also cause localized flooding, especially in areas with poor drainage, and cause elevated water level in creeks and streams.
Meanwhile, the northern Avalon will also see rain today. The metro region may get anywhere from 10 to 20 mm by tonight.
