A 41-year-old man is facing a list of charges following an unusual series of events in Mount Pearl early this morning.

RNC were called around 4:00 a.m. after someone tried to enter a home in the area of Brookfield and Commonwealth Avenue.

A second call came in indicating that someone had broken into the nearby Bell Aliant building.

Bell Aliant says damaged caused inside resulted in a significant phone and internet outage affecting a broad area from Mount Pearl and beyond.

Service has since been largely restored.

The culprit was found inside the building and was taken to hospital with minor injuries suffered while trying to break in.

Charges include break and entry, damage to property, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and failure to comply with a release order.
