Prime Minister Justin Trudeau strongly condemns the “absolutely irresponsible” attack on Israel by Iran last weekend and is calling for a de-escalation of tensions in the region.
Allies have called for restraint, but Israel says it will decide how to respond to Iran’s attacks.
Trudeau told reporters at the University of Victoria today that G7 Nations have agreed that “everything needs to be done to prevent further escalation in the region,” to make sure “there’s more humanitarian aid flowing into Gaza and make sure there’s a ceasefire in which Hamas lays down its arms, and hostages are released.”
Trudeau says movement needs to be made toward a two-state solution.
He calls that “the only long-term solution” for “peace and stability in the region.”
