Four Coast Guard employees got a warm helping of Newfoundland hospitality after an unexpected stay in Cox’s Cove on the west coast.
The Canadian Coast Guard says poor weather caused the employees, who were on a scientific mission, to land in Cox’s Cove.
In a Facebook post, the Coast Guard says the workers, who were in “unfamiliar territory” were welcomed into a local home and offered shelter for the night and a feed the next morning.
Bill Best of Cox’s Cove says he was happy to help and says he made four lifetime friends—who he calls some of the nicest people he ever met.
