A doctor with Immunize Canada says aside from clean water, immunization is the number one public health initiative that has been done in the last 100 years.
This is National Immunization Awareness Week.
Dr. Vivien Brown points to diseases such as polio, which she says aren’t seen anymore and have been “conquered” thanks to vaccination.
Now, Brown says they are focused on other diseases like measles.
She says during the COVID years, people weren’t getting immunized, and now they are seeing instances of that disease—which as of 1996 was considered extinct. Brown says people need to pay attention to immunization because the diseases haven’t gone away, they’re just being prevented.
