A long-time marine safety advocate is calling for an inquiry on vessel safety following the latest tragedy to befall the fishing industry.
Two men died on the weekend after falling into the water near Lark Harbour on the first day of the lobster fishery.
Merv Wiseman says the latest incident speaks to the need for an inquiry into fishing vessel safety—a call Wiseman has made repeatedly over the years.
“How many more accidents do we need to see?” Wiseman asked. He says “we need that inquiry” for the necessary accountability, disclosure and recommendations.
