The community of Lark Harbour held a vigil Monday evening to remember the two lobster fishermen who died after their boat capsized on Sunday.
Deputy Mayor Ria MacDonald says it was “beautiful” to see so many people in attendance supporting each other.
She says the vigil seemed to provide comfort to those grieving, especially the fishermen.
While such a loss is something they’ll never get over, MacDonald believes the vigil helped to allow the fishermen to move on to focus on the lobster season.
“As for the rest of us, we’re all grieving. They just seem to carry it a little bit better.”
Provincial fisheries minister Elvis Loveless and Premier Andrew Furey issued a statement yesterday expressing their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and the community of Lark Harbour.
