A 60-year-old man, who was seriously injured in a snowmobile accident in February, is now facing impaired driving charges related to that crash.
The crash occurred on a pond in Forteau on February 27.
The driver was seriously injured and was initially transported to the Forteau hospital, but was later airlifted to St. John’s.
RCMP believed the driver to be impaired at the time, but due to the extent of his injuries a breath sample could not be taken. Instead, blood samples were collected at the hospital for testing. The results, which came back last week, indicate that the man was over the limit at the time of the crash.
The man remains in hospital at this time. His license has been suspended and he will appear in court at a later date.
