The Public Service Alliance of Canada calls Treasury Board’s decision to force federal public service workers into the office three days a week, “a complete failure by Canada’s largest employer.”
PSAC Regional Executive Vice President for Atlantic Canada Chris Di Liberatore says workers—many of whom signed on during the pandemic—are being forced back with no consultation with their union.
He says the union is contemplating further action.
“It’s broken the trust between PSAC members and their employer and it violates quite concretely the collective bargaining rights of thousands of workers.” He says their FB group is currently at the bargaining table and holding strike votes for workers with the Canada Border Services Agency. “Any change in their terms and conditions of employment while bargaining,” says Di Liberatore, “directly undermines their collective bargaining rights, and we are planning to file an unfair labour practice complaint on that.” They’re also examining their legal options says the union rep.
