Police say a “very irate” man attacked officers with a block of cheese during an incident in St. John’s on Thursday night.
The RNC was responding to a disturbance at a house in the center of the city when the incident occurred around 9 p.m. Upon arrival, the officers were met by the angry man who allegedly assaulted the officers with the cheese.
There were no details as to the size of the block, or the type of cheese involved.
The suspect was eventually taken into custody and transferred to the St. John’s lockup for a court appearance today. He’s facing charges of assault, assaulting police officers, and breach of probation.
In a separate incident, another officer was struck in the face by a woman early Thursday afternoon. It happened at an apartment complex in the west end of St. John’s.
Police were answering a disturbance call when they witnessed one woman assault another in one of the units. One of the officers was hit by one of the women as they tried to make an arrest.
The 39-year-old suspect was also taken to the lockup for court this morning.
She has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon, assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest, mischief and breach of probation.
