The Newfoundland Rogues’ season came to an early and abrupt end at Mary Brown’s Centre on Friday night.
Down 2-0 in the first-round, best-of-five series, the Rogues had to win to extend their year, but it wasn’t to be.
The Rogues were constantly chasing the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans, being out-rebounded 57-36 and finally succumbing by a score of 128-115.
That was despite a stunning 52-point effort by the Rogues’ Armani Chaney, the team’s unquestioned MVP candidate.
It was the Rogues first season in the Basketball Super League, but it won’t be the last, according to owner Tony Kenny who told media this week that the team will be back next year.
The franchise initially joined the American Basketball Association when the team was established in 2021.
