The City of St. John’s has opened applications for its Residential Re-Leaf Program.
The initiative encourages people to plant trees on their property.
Eligible applications will be entered into a draw for a $200 voucher to go toward the purchase of a tree to be planted on their property.
The deadline to apply is May 24 at 4 p.m. Successful applicants will receive their voucher in the mail by late June.
Councillor Jamie Korab says there are 42 different types of trees people can get.
He says the vouchers can be used at four locations: Holland Nurseries, Murray’s Garden Centre, Pat’s Plants and Gardens, and Rise and Shine Nurseries. He says staff at those locations will help people choose which type of tree is right for their property.
Information on how to apply can be found online.
