The provincial government says staff and equipment are ready for what may come during this forest fire season.
The question from opposition MHA Pleaman Forsey comes as several out-of-control forest fires burn in western parts of the country, particularly in BC and Alberta.
Forestry Minister Elvis Loveless says he has had discussions with people in the department and that they are ready both from a human resources perspective, and from an asset perspective.
On the asset front, Forsey asks about an RFQ that was put out for the province’s fifth waterbomber.
Forsey asks about the status of that RFQ. Transportation and Infrastructure minister John Abbott then told the House that they are still working through the results of the RFQ, and will be “determining in short order” when they will award the contract to have the plane repaired.
