NL Health Services has welcomed 25 new physicians to the province in the first three months of the year—recruited from MUN’s Faculty of Medicine, other parts of Canada and internationally.

The physicians are working in a range of specialties including family medicine, anesthesiology, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, pathology and orthopedics.

The physicians have a return in service agreement in place to provide full-time practice for five years to be eligible for incentives—including the Come Home incentive, a physician signing bonus and family practice start-up program.

NL Health Services CEO David Diamond says they are continuing to see results from ongoing recruitment activities, which they hope will result in lower wait times and offer the best care possible to patients and their families.
