As the May 24th long weekend comes to a close many will be heading back out over the highways today, and police are remind people to make sure their loads are secure.

People may have a variety of items with them to enjoy the unofficial kickoff to summer—such as canoes strapped to the hood of their vehicle, quads in the back of their truck, and trailers being towed.

RNC Constable James Cadigan making sure things are properly secured is important for safety.

He says he has heard stories of peoples’ cargo flying out of their trucks and striking other vehicles and passers by, and it is important to make sure all items are secure.
