The opposition housing critic claims the minister responsible is holding back information regarding the number of people living at the shelter operating out of the old airport Comfort Inn.
Joedy Wall didn’t get a definitive answer when he questioned Minister Fred Hutton on how many residents were living at the new shelter, which has been leased to government for $21 million over the next three years.
“How many people are now residing at the Comfort Inn?” asked Wall. Hutton responded saying staff were on site, but he was unable to provide information on how many people have moved in, saying he could provide the exact number at a later time.
Wall finds it hard to believe that Hutton doesn’t know the exact figures, especially given the amount of money and resources put forward by government to get the facility up and running.
He accuses the minister of withholding the information because they are not serving as many people as anticipated.
