A man from Mattis Point is facing a long list of charges in relation to numerous break-ins in and around Stephenville—some in recent days, and at least one case dating back to last August.
31-year-old Tyler Bennett was arrested on Thursday on an outstanding warrant after running into a wooded area in Stephenville Crossing.
He was located in a tree by police service dog Thor.
Bennett is facing various charges in relation to break-ins at multiple businesses in the Bay St. George area over the last two weeks: Karl’s Canteen in Stephenville Crossing, Needs Convenience in Kippens, and Georgia Convenience in Stephenville. He’s also been charged in connection to a residential break-in at a home in Stephenville Crossing in August of last year.

Offences on August 24, 2023 at a residence in Stephenville Crossing:
– Robbery
– Assault with a Weapon
– Overcoming Resistance to Commission of an Offence by Choking
– Wearing a Disguise
– Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
– Mischief
Tyler Bennett has also been charged with resisting arrest and remains in custody.
