A Mount Pearl company has been charged under the Occupational Health and Safety Act as the result of an investigation into a construction accident in June of 2022 that resulted in injuries to a worker.
The worker was struck by a piece of lumber being moved by a crane during a wharf construction job in Gooseberry Cove, Trinity Bay.
Granite Management Limited has been charged with three violations including failing to notify Occupational Health and Safety about the accident, failing to ensure workers were given the necessary training, and supervision and failing to ensure that the crane operator had the necessary training.
A company supervisor has also been charged for failing to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all workers under their supervision.
The first court appearance is scheduled for June 27th in provincial court, Clarenville.
