This year’s Royal St. John’s Regatta will include another distinction in its title.
This year’s event, believed to be the oldest continuous sporting event in North America, will be known as the Confederation 75 Royal St. John’s Regatta.
The Regatta Committee is being provided with $65,000 to help them organize a Regatta eve concert, with a free park-and-ride service provided by Gulliver’s.
Committee President Ashley Peach says they’re very excited about the concert, which will take place on the north bank in the area of the band stand starting at 5:30 p.m. including the Salt Beef Junkies, Ennis Sisters and the Irish Descendants.
All medals handed out this year, will also include the Confederation 75 logo to mark the 75th anniversary of Newfoundland and Labrador joining Confederation with Canada.
The new race and championship medals were unveiled on story boards this morning in the Winner’s Circle.
