A female was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after an assault in the capital city’s east end.

RNC were called to the incident off Portugal Cove Road just after 7 p.m. Friday evening. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment while police tracked down the suspect shortly after.

The 17-year-old male suspect has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon.

He was held for court.
