A businessman prominent in hospitality and tourism sectors has passed away.
Roger Jamieson, the owner of four-star Kilmory Resort in Swift Current on the Burin Peninsula, has died at the age of 66. A former president of Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador, Jamieson also tried to win political office under the Liberal banner over the years.
Hospitality NL Chair Deborah Bourden is expressing “profound sadness” on Jamieson’s passing. She says Roger was a cherished past Chair and President of Hospitality NL and a pillar of the local tourism community.
She says Jamieson’s vision and dedication transformed Kilmory Resort into “one of the most successful and renowned resort operations” in the province.
Jamieson is resting at Carnell’s on Freshwater Road in St. John’s Thursday and Friday with the funeral set for 11:00 a.m. Saturday from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.
I am broken-hearted after hearing of the passing of my friend Roger Jamieson. He had a staunch passion for this province and spent much of his life being a champion for tourism and the beauty of Newfoundland and Labrador.
