A popular social media comedian visiting this province was only trying to hail a taxi, but ended up finding a taste of some of Newfoundland and Labrador’s finest cuisine instead.
Stewart Reynolds, known as Brittlestar online, has spent the past few days in St. John’s on vacation with his wife.
During their trip, they visited popular tourism attractions and restaurants, but the experience that stands out all started with a ride in a cab.
Reynolds struck up a conversation with a cabbie named Fouad, who also happened to be a chef at the hotel in which they were staying. He invited the couple out for a meal catered just for them.
So… we get a taxi in St John’s.
The cabbie tells us he’s also a chef in the hotel restaurant.
He tells us to get the lobster roll when he’s working.
We do…
IT’S THE BEST GODDAMN MEAL WE’VE HAD IN NEWFOUNDLAND.

Fouad told the couple to ask for him when they got there and he would ensure a feed of lobster roll was specially prepared.
“It was phenomenal,” he told VOCM News. “He came out and chatted with us for awhile. I feel like a big time celebrity when the chef comes out to talk to you!”
