As talks continue with the Quebec government on the Upper Churchill contract, Premier Andrew Furey is doubling down on his intent to “right the wrongs of the past and become the energy capital of North America.”
Furey made the comments at Energy NL’s annual conference in St. John’s yesterday.
While the premier won’t offer much of a comment on where talks are or how they’re progressing, he does stress that there will be a “dramatic correction” when it comes to the deal struck in the 60s “that’s undoubtable, but it will be on our terms,” says Furey.
He asserts that the province is in the driver’s seat, and they need to get as much value out of the deal as possible.
