Pattern Energy’s renewable energy project in Argentia is “absolutely full steam ahead” according to the company.
Pattern announced a deal with the Port of Argentia last year to construct a 300-megawatt wind energy facility that will power the production of ammonia for export.
During an address to the Energy NL conference, managing director Frank Davis said the environmental assessment for the project has been submitted to the province, and should be registered and released for public review “any day now.”
In March Pattern Energy signed a letter of intent with the German company Mabanaft on equity investment and full offtake for the project.
He calls the agreement significant for the industry as a whole because there are a lot of proposed wind-hydrogen agreements across North America and none of them have binding offtake agreements.
