Two people were injured in a fracas at a large gathering of young people in the area of Wigmore Court off Thorburn Road yesterday, and one of the two was stabbed.
One teen has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, the second teen was charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon while the third faces charges of aggravated assault.
Numerous officers and police dog services broke up the gathering of teenagers at about 5 p.m.
RNC Cst. James Cadigan says such situations highlight the need for parents and the community-at-large not only to be aware of what’s going on but to notify police.
“If you see a large gathering of young people that seems a little bit off, well it probably is,” says Cadigan. “The sooner we get the call, the sooner we can respond.”
