RCMP on the west coast of Newfoundland are continuing their manhunt for an escaped prisoner.

Police in Bay St. George say 31-year-old Tyler Bennett somehow got free and escaped from Stephenville’s West Coast Correctional Centre after 6 p.m. last night.

Bennett is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds with multiple tattoos. He was shirtless at the time of the escape.

Bennett was in custody facing a raft of serious charges including robbery, assaults, break-ins and thefts.
