No longer do you have to wait for an appointment to go over results of your bloodwork or other medical info as it can now be accessed online.
Residents aged 16 and older can now sign up through MyGovNL to access their personal health record.
Russell Bungay, Senior Director of Provincial Clinical Systems at NL Health Services, says lab and X-Ray results, allergies and current medication lists are available online.
Medications lists are updated as soon as the drug is dispensed at the pharmacy and lab results are uploaded within a week, but it may take up to two weeks for X-Ray results to show up online.
The hope is that the platform will be expanded in the future to include things like MRI results.
Despite someone having access to their results, Bungay says that does not eliminate the need to review your situation with your physician.
While results are accurately spelled out for the ordinary Joe to look at, he says a medical professional is better able to explain how the results impact your overall health.
